Experience
Focusing on trademark law since 1994, Ms. Ryan regularly advises clients on strategies to cost-effectively secure and protect trademark rights in the U.S. and overseas. She provides strategic and practical advice to minimize risk and resolve complex issues related to trademark rights around the world, with an eye to client business objectives.
Ms. Ryan represents both domestic and overseas clients in U.S. trademark matters and manages global trademark portfolios for domestic clients. She regularly handles all aspects of trademark selection, clearance searching, filing strategy, registration, maintenance, policing, enforcement, infringement analysis, cease and desist letters, and oppositions and cancellations before the USPTO Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and in foreign jurisdictions. She also assists clients with trademark licensing, acquisition and due diligence, and the specific trademark needs of franchisors.
Ms. Ryan’s experience includes major company name changes, international brand launches, and successful prosecution of applications for non-traditional marks including color, product configuration, and store interior design. Ms. Ryan assists companies of all sizes from start-ups to leading companies in a variety of industries including hospitality, health and fitness, medical products and services, retail, and industrial products.
