ALEXANDER ZUMBULYADIS JOINS HSML

HSML is proud to announce that Alexander Zumbulyadis (Attorney at Law/Patent Attorney) as joined the firm. Mr. Zumbulyadis is admitted to practice with the Minnesota State Bar and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Zumbulyadis has a J.D., a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, and a Masters of Engineering Management, Biomedical Entrepreneurship.

HSML PARTNER BRYAN WONG BECOMES CEO AND MANAGING PARTNER

Partner Bryan Wong has been elected to be the new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner by the Board of Directors of HSML. Mr. Wong is proud to be the first Chinese American attorney to take on the leadership role of HSML.

HSML PARTNER DOUGLAS MUELLER BECOMES CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD

Partner Douglas Mueller has been elected to be the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of HSML. Mr. Mueller succeeds Mr. Hamre who has recently announced his retirement.

HSML PARTNER CURTIS HAMRE RETIRES

Partner Curtis Hamre has announced his retirement after decades of an extremely successful career. Mr. Hamre has been an extremely valuable counsel and a great friend to many of us at HSML. For some time, Mr. Hamre will continue serving as Of Counsel at HSML.

HSML IS MINORITY OWNED

HSML is proud to announce that the majority of HSML is minority owned with the elevation of four attorneys to partnerships. HSML attorneys Rong (Christine) Yang, Alexander Kim, Amol Kavathekar, and Masako Yoshida have been elevated to join HSML partners Michael Schumann, Douglas Mueller, James Larson, and Bryan Wong as partners of HSML. This results in five of eight partners of HSML being minorities. This is in line with HSML’s strategic business vision and execution of that vision in promoting, training, and retaining minority attorneys.

HSML is proud to announce that Anthony Marshik (Attorney at Law/Patent Agent) as joined the firm. Mr. Marshik is admitted to practice with the Minnesota State Bar and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Marshik has a J.D. and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering.

HSML is proud to announce that patent attorney and attorney at law Masako Yoshida has been elevated to partner. Ms. Yoshida practices general intellectual property law with an emphasis on patents and licensing. Ms. Yoshida also has experience in tort and product liability litigation.

HSML is proud to announce that patent attorney and attorney at law Amol Kavathekar has been elevated to partner. Mr. Kavathekar practices general intellectual property law with an emphasis on U.S. and international patent procurement and strategy. Mr. Kavathekar’s practice focuses on counseling clients on U.S. and international patent portfolio procurement, management and development; patentability, infringement, validity, and freedom to operate opinions; and IP acquisition, licensing, and due diligence agreements.

Mr. Kim has an extensive understanding of cutting edge technologies experience in successfully prosecuting patent applications and winning appeals representing clients from many industries. Mr. Kim also provides client counseling in various matters with respect to IP portfolio management and IP business strategies.

HSML is proud to announce that patent attorney and attorney at law Rong (Christine) Yang has been elevated to partner. Ms. Yang has tremendous experience in a variety of technologies including mechanical and electrical mechanical arts. Ms. Yang also has extensive experience in IP licensing agreements, corporate patent portfolio planning and strategy matters, and patent litigation.

HSML Attorney Doug Mueller Named to 2016 Minnesota Super Lawyers List

Partner Doug Mueller is currently listed among the 2016 Minnesota Super Lawyers, which features the top attorneys in the state. Mr. Mueller has been named to this list in 2008 to 2016. The 2016 Minnesota Super Lawyers list will be appearing on the web at www.superlawyers.com.

HSML ANNOUNCES NAPABA HAS NAMED BRYAN WONG – 2014 BEST LAWYERS UNDER 40

HSML is pleased to announce the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) has selected Bryan Wong as one of the 21 attorneys to receive the 2014 Best Lawyers Under 40 Award (BU40). The BU40 recognizes talented individuals in the Asian Pacific American (APA) legal community who are under the age of 40 and have achieved prominence and distinction in their respective fields while demonstrating a strong commitment to the community at relatively early stages in their careers. The BU40 Award was presented on November 8, 2014, during the 2014 NAPABA Annual Convention in Scottsdale, Arizona, to Bryan Wong.

The 2014 class of honorees continues the BU40 legacy of excellence and leadership in both the legal and APA communities. This year’s BU40 honorees have vast and varied experiences – founding their own law firms, trying and winning major cases, representing Fortune 100 companies, combatting human trafficking, and advocating to protect the civil rights of APAs. HSML joins NAPABA in congratulating the 2014 Best Lawyers Under 40 and look forward to Bryan’s future successes.
